Grave for three

After both parents has died and the house is sold I had to think how I should make the grave of my father. After some time our mother found the right stone of her choice. Our mother already knew my choice was to bury the urn of Ernst together with theirs. tFor making room for carving the letters the stone was put in een more slanting position. The glass plates, made by the Italian glassartist Giorgio de Montenacco, was positioned behind the stone. The intention was, that the sunlight should make images on the stone of the parents. For reasons of the distance I have not verified if this is according my expectations. Every season and time of the day could give its own colour character. The images on the glassplates are of course an interpretation of two painting of Ernst Schaap.

Originally the glassplates were made for the grave of Marlies, to whom I was maried from 1976 to 1978. I was never wholly satisfied by the result. So I have decides to put only the sculture on her grave. Also her grave was situated under a tree. The situation for light is far more favourable in the churchyard of Burgum.

The grave of Ernst Schaap was first situated in the back of his mothers garden. This situation changed in september 2017.

The grave was ready in october 2017. The result you see below.
